Incubus (2009)
'INCUBUS' is a short film conveying the struggles of the amateur musician. The effort of practice is used as a stronghold for the obligations felt by the player towards the piano. In this scenario the player is trapped - by their own will - into a relationship with the piano that results in the unmasking of the individuals inner conflicts. The symbolic cultural status of the piano is presented as an ideal to which the musician aspires to but can never reach. The hell and pleasure induced by this contradiction forms the central premise of the film.
'INCUBUS' was made in collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Dan Faberoff, artist-photographer Chris Parker and piano builder and repairer, Tim Danemann.
